10 Kms from Main City of Jammu the College and Hospital are located at picturesque, pollution free hill slope above river Tawi at Sidhra, Jammu

NUMBER OF BEDS DOCTORS AND NURSES

Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital is 600  bedded (Including Emergency and Critical Care Areas).

There are 250 doctors in the hospital (Faculty members, Senior Residents and Junior Residents) 285 nurses and other paramedical staff.

·         Central Enquiry and Registration Office is Located in the lobby of Main Entrance of the Hospital.

·         Enquiry counters and Help Desk also exist at the main Entrance, Registration Counter as well as in the OPD at various locations where one can enquire and seek help in case of any problem.

ASCOMS RECEPTION: Located at ground floor near M.S Office and it functions round the clock under the department of Hospital Administration and managed by reception staff.

CASUALTY AND EMERGENCY SERVICES

·         Location: Ground floor near the entrance, easily accessible.

·         Emergency services are available 24 hours throughout the year,

·         Anyone with urgent medical problem can seek consultation / treatment in the casualty.

·         Casualty has dedicated team of Doctors (Casualty Medical Officers and residents from major specialties i.e Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics) Nurses, Paramedics and Orderlies etc to provide urgent medical services.

·         We endeavor to provide medical care (including investigations and treatment under one roof) at the earliest possible time. However in view of extreme workload in casualty (during rush hours) those cases that are not so urgent may have to wait for some time.

·         The treating doctors will call any specialist / super specialist who is available on call for urgent consultation as and when required.

In serious cases treatment / management gets priority over paper work like Registration / Medico legal requirements.

·         Casualty has fully equipped Emergency Operation Theatre for any urgent surgery etc.

·         The Casualty is equipped with modern gadgets like ventilators, nebulizers, defibrillators, Central O2 and suction supply etc.

·         All urgent investigations like blood biochemistry, Urine, Blood Gas Analysis, ECG, USG, X-ray, CT Scan , MRI etc are available for casualty patients round the clock.  

·         All basic medicines and surgical items are available in casualty.

·         Facilities like wheel chairs, patient trolleys are available at the entrance of casualty.

·         Free telephone, public utilities like toilets, waiting area, canteens, sitting area with fans and chairs are available.

·         OPD Card is available from main counter, OPD ground floor. After this the patient get registered at the counter of respective OPDs.

·         Patients are seen on first come first serve basis. However, out of turn consultation may be provided in case of emergency or to senior citizens.

·         Speciality Clinics – (for details see OPD brochure available at enquiry counter in OPD)

·         Super speciality Services:- CARDIOLOGY; NEURO-SURGERY, NEUROLOGY; UROLOGY; PAEDIATRIC SURGERY; PLASTIC SURGERY

·         Investigations: After OPD Consultation, the treating doctor will fill up the requisition forms for various investigations and direct / guide you to the concerned lab / department.

·         Sample Collection Centre for Blood, Urine , Stool etc – at Ground Floor Labs. The report normally can be collected from the Lab counter at ground floor.

·         Many facilities are provided at OPD level e.g. ECG, Plaster, Injection and Immunization Room, Contraception and MTP service, Minor Surgical Intervention, Physiotherapy, Bronchoscopy, Endoscopy etc.

·         Medical fitness / Medical examination and other such certificates are issued after paying the requisite fee. For this purpose contact the Record Section, Ground Floor.

·         Wheel chairs, patient trolley etc are available at Ground Floor at the entrance and OPDs.

To meet day-to-day needs of patients, there are canteens in the hospital premises

INDOOR SERVICES

·         All inpatients receive treatment by team of Resident Doctors and Nurses available round the clock, under the supervision and guidance of faculty members of ASCOMS.

·         Hospital Attendants are available in different wards to help inpatient care and related activities.

·         All wards are equipped with required equipments.

·         Indoor services have running water, toilets, portable x-ray, ECG, USG machines. Generator backup, emergency lights, internal telephone, chair for attendants etc.

·         Waste disposal is done as per the established rules (biomedical waste management and handling rules 1998) and utmost care is taken to keep the premises neat and clean.

·         Every inpatient is permitted not more than two attendant.

·         Visitors are allowed only during notified visiting hours.

·         Special investigations like USG, CT, MRI etc are charged as per rates approved by Government and revised from time to time.

·         Bed Linen is changed at the time of admission thereafter on every day and also whenever required.

·         Food is served Two times a day. Tea is provided in the morning and evening.

Day Care Facility is available for certain types of operations e.g. laparoscopic surgery; day care chemotherapy; blood transfusion, dialysis, endoscopies and similar interventions.

Operation Theatres

·         The institution has fully equipped modern operation theatres, where all kind of major and minor surgeries are performed using the latest techniques and technology.

·         ICUs – The hospital has fully equipped CCU, Medical ICU, Respiratory ICU, Surgical ICU, PICU and NICU.

Blood Bank

ASCOMS has a licensed state of the art Blood Bank that functions 24 hours a day and provides facilities for blood donation, storage, issue of blood and its components. Strict Precautions are taken and screening is done to prevent any blood borne infection. Blood is provided to the patients on replacement basis.

Miscellaneous Facilities

Ambulance facility is available to transfer patients to other hospitals or meet any exigency / disaster situation.

Free bus services are available from various stops of the city to hospital and back,
